About

I'm Rebecca. And I'm not your typical therapist.

I've spent 18 years doing this work, in psychiatric hospitals, addiction centers, schools, and private practice, and what I've learned is that people don't need someone to sit across from them and nod. They need someone who can actually hold the weight of what they're carrying, help them understand it, and walk alongside them while they change it.

That's what I do.

I hold three licenses: I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC), and a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT). This isn't just a list of credentials, it means I can work with the full complexity of what you're going through, whether that's trauma that's never been touched, a relationship with substances you're ready to rethink, emotional overwhelm that's been ruling your life, or a major life transition that's cracked everything open.

My approach is eclectic and completely personalized. I draw from DBT, CBT, and trauma-informed care, and I'm also trained in art therapy, so if you process the world more visually than verbally, that door is open too. No two clients get the same treatment plan, because no two people have the same life. My style is warm, direct, and occasionally funny. Sessions feel like a real conversation, sometimes challenging, always grounded, and never stiff or slow. You'll leave each session with something concrete: a tool, an insight, a shift. Not just the feeling that you talked.

Outside the office, I'm an artist and designer, creativity has always been how I make sense of the world, which is probably why art therapy found me before I even knew what to call it. I'm a mother, so I understand firsthand the particular mix of love, exhaustion, and identity disruption that comes with that chapter. I cook, I garden, I seek out live music and antiques, I say yes to adventures whenever I can. I believe that a therapist who is genuinely living their life, not just talking about it in session, brings something real into the room. I try to practice what I preach.

I work with adults and I'm proudly and wholeheartedly LGBTQIA+ affirming. My office is in Montclair, NJ and I offer telehealth across New Jersey and New York. If you're ready to stop going in circles, I'd love to talk.
