Life Transitions Therapy in NJ

The person you were doesn't quite fit anymore. The person you're becoming isn't clear yet. This in-between space is exactly where good therapy lives.

Life Transitions

Divorce. A career that's hollowing you out. A new baby who is everything you wanted and nothing you were prepared for. Losing a parent. Leaving a city. Turning 40 — or 50 — and realizing the life you built doesn't feel like yours anymore.

Big transitions crack something open. And even when the change is one you chose, even when it's objectively good, it can still feel destabilizing, disorienting, and lonely in ways you didn't expect and feel embarrassed to admit.

You don't have to be in crisis to need support through a major life change. You just have to be in the middle of something real.

What Transition Therapy Looks Like

Life transitions therapy is about helping you navigate the in-between, the space where the old version of yourself no longer fits and the new one hasn't fully arrived. We work on identity: who you are now, what you actually want, and what kind of life you want to build from here.

I draw on a mix of DBT, CBT, and what I think of as deep values work, helping you get clear on what actually matters to you underneath all the noise, and using that clarity as a compass for the decisions ahead. This isn't just coping through a hard time. It's building something better on the other side of it.

Common Transitions I Work With

  • Divorce and separation

  • Career change or job loss

  • Becoming a parent for the first time

  • Loss of a parent or loved one

  • Moving to a new city or country

  • Retirement or major role change

  • Coming out or navigating identity shifts

  • Recovery as a life transition

  • Turning a milestone age and questioning everything

You're Not Falling Apart. You're Transitioning.

The disorientation of a major life change can feel like something is wrong with you. It isn't. It's what happens when the map you've been using no longer matches the territory. Therapy helps you draw a new one.

I work with adults and am proudly LGBTQIA+ affirming. Sessions are available in person in Montclair, NJ and via telehealth across New Jersey and New York.
