Trauma Treatement
Trauma doesn't always look like what you see in movies. It doesn't always come from one dramatic event. Sometimes it's the relationship that slowly eroded your sense of self. The childhood you don't talk about. The accident, the loss, the betrayal that changed everything and that you've been carrying quietly ever since.
If you find yourself reacting to things in ways that feel out of proportion (shutting down, snapping, dissociating, or bracing for the next thing to go wrong) that's not weakness. That's a nervous system that learned to protect you. And it can be rewired.
I offer trauma-informed therapy for adults in Montclair, NJ and across New Jersey and New York via telehealth. My approach is paced by you, we don't force anything, we don't rush, and we don't go anywhere you're not ready to go. What we do is build safety first, then understanding, then genuine healing.
What Trauma Therapy Looks Like With Me
Every client's trauma is different, which means every treatment plan is different. I draw from DBT, CBT, and trauma-informed care to build an approach that fits your specific history and nervous system. For some clients, that means learning to regulate overwhelming emotions first. For others, it means gently exploring the roots of patterns that have never made sense until now.
I've worked with survivors of childhood abuse, relationship trauma, sexual assault, medical trauma, sudden loss, combat, and complex PTSD. I've treated the most intense trauma presentations in psychiatric hospital settings in New Jersey. Whatever you're carrying, I can hold it.
You Don't Have to Have It All Figured Out to Call
Many trauma survivors spend years wondering if what happened to them was "bad enough" to deserve help. It was. You don't need to have a diagnosis, a label, or a perfectly clear sense of what you want to work on. You just need to be willing to start.
I work with adults only and am proudly LGBTQIA+ affirming. Sessions are available in person in Montclair, NJ and via telehealth across New Jersey and New York.
